On the 19th of December a CADAS systems upgrade contract was signed between Estonian Air Navigation Services (Lennuliiklusteeninduse AS) and Frequentis AG . It is a two-year project during which most of the systems used in briefing and AIP group will be significantly improved and upgraded. Frequentis AG has been a good partner to us for almost a decade already and we hope to continue being at the forefront in Europe of modernizing our systems with their support.
Estonian Civil Aviation Administration kindly reminds that from 1st January 2020 within the Tallinn FIR it is prohibited to operate an aircraft under IFR unless the aircraft radio equipment has the 8.33 kHz channel spacing capability. Non-8,33 kHz VFR flights are prohibited in airspace classes C and D as well as in RMZ-s.
Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS) and Air Navigation Services Finland (ANS Finland), the main air navigation service providers in Estonia and Finland have a long record of excellent cooperation in the field of Air Traffic Management because of their adjacent areas of responsibility and especially the need to coordinately manage the traffic flows to/from biggest airports under their responsibility – Helsinki-Vantaa and Tallinn.
Before this date the flight plan addressing has been handled by the ATS units of local aerodromes. From October, 10, it is Tallinn Centralised ARO (ATS Reporting Office, AIS Department) that is responsible for the all VFR flight plans for the flights operating in Tallinn FIR. A dedicated AFTN address has been established and shall be used for submission of VFR flight plans for the flights operating in Tallinn FIR. Tallinn ARO is responsible for their further distribution.
