Supervisory Board of Estonian Air Navigation Services elects Kuldar Väärsi as new Chairman
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, a shareholder of Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS), recalled Priit Põldoja from the position of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board as of 1 June 2021. Starting from 1 June 2021, Kuldar Väärsi will take over as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EANS.
Priit Põldoja is stepping down from the position of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board at his own request to concentrate on his role as a CEO of Inbank.
"It has been a very exciting time. During the difficult economic situation, EANS has made bold and necessary decisions. Good cooperation between the owner and management helps the company to overcome the current crisis. I wish all the best to the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board Kuldar Väärsi and the company's hard-working team,” said Priit Põldoja.
"Transport and technology sectors have always been close to my heart. Therefore, it was a very logical step to accept the position of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EANS," said Kuldar Väärsi. According to Kuldar, the primary challenges for EANS are related to mitigating the effects and risks arising from the significant decrease of flights and implementing digitalisation successfully in the long run.
"I’m glad to have the opportunity to use my previous experience in management, development and rebuilding of various companies in EANS and to contribute in a way that would be useful for both, the management in shaping the future direction and the state as owner in making and implementing strategic choices," said Kuldar Väärsi.
Kuldar Väärsi is the Chairman of the management board and owner of Milrem AS. Milrem AS is a developer of robotics and autonomous systems, which focuses on the production of unmanned land vehicles for both, civil and defence industries. Under the leadership of Kuldar Väärsi, the company has become a technology leader in robotics systems in Europe. Previously, Kuldar has been active in the management boards of Elektriraudtee AS (Elron) and the bus company SEBE.
